How To Dress Classic

Controlled. Conservative. Smart. Classic clothes can be mixed or matched with other pieces to create a number of different looks. These looks can be suitable for casual outings or professional settings. Cardigans are one of the most commonly purchased womens classic clothes. A simple button down cardigan can be worn over a camisole to create a business casual appearance or to cover a basic t shirt for a comfortable day look. Cardigans come in a variety of styles from simple solid color classic styles to elaborate lace or sheer patterns. These different styles can add a more casual or evening appearance to any outfit and can be worn over almost any top.

One staple to any classic clothes wardrobe is the basic black trouser pant. Black trouser pants are often paired with a camisole and cardigan for a timelessly elegant outfit. Adding a slouchy sweater or tunic to fitted black trouser pants creates a look that can be used for an evening out as well as running errands or daytime events. Wearing black trouser pants instead of jeans can make an outfit instantly more dramatic and fashionable.

The button down top is another classic in womens clothing. While traditionally a plain white cotton button down top it has been transformed through the use of luxurious fabrics. Satins, silks and linen have all been used to recreate the classic button down top, each with their own appearance. A plain linen button down paired with black trousers and a cardigan appears dramatic and well put together while wearing silk button downs with a skirt and fitted jacket can be worn for professional or formal outings.

Pencil skirts have remained in fashion for many years in both casual and formal settings for the sleek lines they create. These skirts are flattering on nearly every figure and can be worn with sweaters, cardigans, camisoles or button downs, creating endless combinations. Pencil skirts may be found in combed wool or other blends, further increasing the variety of appearances as some fabrics are more luxurious than others.

Of all the basics in womens clothing, the little black dress remains the most constant of the timeless classics. A black dress can be made of simple cotton and worn during summer for events, or in fitted silk or wool for formal nights and parties. Sleeveless black dresses may also be worn with cardigans or other shoulder shrugs and can instantly change the look of the outfit from formal to casual or the reverse.

These timeless pieces are the basic foundations of womens clothes and fashion as they can create so many different looks with just a few pieces. The addition of accessories and different shoes can also create further variations, dramatically increasing the size of the wardrobe.
